We don't have a pool and I didn't plan on going to the lake... So I am tempted to turn on the sprinkler in the backyard and sit in a lawn chair and get wet that way.

Just wait until 6 or 7 tonight and it will be chilly... welcome to the bay area. it was rather warm today here in Oakland.

Do it. Get out there, hook up the sprinkler and be happy that you're staying cool, enjoying the outdoors and using your cooked brain to do something about the intolerable heat.

It's hot here in Florida in July...I just took a 30 minute cold shower and sat in the shower for an hour until I dried off. It worked.
