Which state do you prefer? Why? Ever lived in or visited them?
I live in KY but much prefer TX. I think TX has more to offer in terms of arts, culture, diversity in natural beauty, and history. Plus, I think its people are much friendlier.
I'm sorry if I offend any Kentuckians, but that is my personal experience. However, while KY doesn't have as much DIVERSITY in natural vegetation and topography as TX, I think it's still prettier than TX. From the lakes and returned-to-nature lands of west KY to the rolling bluegrass around Lexington to the mountains of east KY, it's really a pretty state.

I've lived in KY all but two years of my life that I lived in Texas. I hated every second on those two years. And not because I just missed home. The weather (in the Dallas area especially) can be kinda finicky (sp?) Where as one day it is hot with high humidity, and the next it is cool. It will do that back and forth everyday, which caused my to have a lot of lung problems due to my bad allergies. I ended up constantly battling pnuemonia and broncitius back and forth the whole time I lived there. People drive like crazy in TX, and no one knows how to react when it snows. It snowed heavily both winters I lived there and people freaked out. School was cancelled one time for 3 days due to half an inch of snow! A lot of people I found to be extremely rude and treated my entire family horribly upon finding out we were from Kentucky. I had full grown adults explaining to me how to use a VCR one time and were shocked when I told them we had those in KY as well.
On a brighter side, TX does have a lot more to offer culturally than Kentucky. And One thing they have in common is way too much love for their sports teams haha. In Texas, they obsess over the Cowboys, and in Kentucky you're a trader if you don't live every second of your life for the KY WildCats basketball team.
I do suppose I just happened to have met all the crazy people in Texas during my time there and I in no way think everyone in Texas is as I described above.

If you like urban life, west Texas is the answer. For common suburban living, you would prefer Kentucky mainly, but in Houston Texas there is a nice area that isn't really a suburb, but gives the nice feel of one called Bellaire. If you like rural living, then either Kentucky or west Texas, depending if you care about illegal immigration.

I completely agree with you, I have been to kentucky, and lived in Austin, TX for 3 years. Austin has much more to offer as far as things to do, more big cities and things. However, Kentucky is so beautiful, the rolling hills and big green trees everywhere. Texas topographically is ugly, dried up and dead looking.

I just passed through Kentucky on my vacation a week ago, and after having been to Texas several times, I would have to say Kentucky! Even though I wasn't in Kentucky long, I've never really liked Texas! :)

Texas. I went to Sourth Padre Island a couple of years ago in December and it was warm out on the Gulf.
I was driving down the road and there were cows on one side and the ocean on the other. That was amazing.

No doubt about it, it has to be Texas. Texas is bigger, has more tourist attractions, and has cities known worldwide ( San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas). What does Kentucky have?
