just do a search on wikipedia for solid rocket booster and it provides all the info you need to calculate booster separation ties and has some good charts and technical data on the boosters.

Yahoo provide a link to live NASA TV which will allow one to listen to the live comms between the shuttle and flight control. This gives updates on alt, velocity, and flight status.
