If a party invitations state RSVP or RSVP only if declining you need to answer that question. It will depend on the invitation and the purpose of the party.
If there is no RSVP then no need to answer. Just a thank you for inviting you and take a nice gift as your thank you for there time and courtesy.

Yes, especially when an RSVP is asked for. An RSVP is not only a sign of courtesy but also helps the host prepare for the amount of guests they will be expecting.

Looks like there are plenty of "yes" answers. So here's another one.
YES! That's the whole purpose of RSVP, common courtesy so they know who and how many to plan for.
Don't respond "yes" if you don't really plan on going either. Some people do that to be polite. If you can't go, you can't go. In that case "just say no" :-)

Yes you should almost always RSVP to a party unless it is only you and one or two other people coming which you will be expected to come unless you say you are not.

Yes,
anyone who is invited..... weather attending or not, should RSVP
It helps the host get an exact count of how many guests to expect.

Yes, The hostess has to plan on beverages and foods and stuff. It helps to know who IS coming. It would be awful if she didn`t make enough of everything to do around. Yes you should RSVP..
