Yes it is possible because if you are an optimistic and positive person and you are constantly around a person who is not, they can bring a dark cloud in your life. Their negative vibes can be easily put on you especially if you care about the person and nothing you do is working to make them happy. I think the best thing for you to do is discuss with this person the possibility of seeking therapy because they need someone who is professionally trained to help them. I hope the person you're talking about gets the help that they deserve.

Well, first of all,you should never, ever worry about what someone else says. Especially if they are saying mean things, trying to make you feel bad. You have to understand something. And that is that YOU are the only one who really matters in this world. No one is looking out for you or loves you more than yourself. The only thing that matters is how you feel about yourself. If you think you are an OK, good, loving and kind person....then what does it matter what others say? People who are hurting emotionally, try to hurt those around them, it makes them feel better to not be alone in their pain. So, if you let them make you feel bad, you are giving them power over YOU! YOU hold the power to feel good or feel bad about yourself in your own hands ( heart). Just walk away from them, and think to yourself... life is too short to put up with that kind of crap.

well hun if someone around you is down and out, sad etc. then some people start to analyze their own lives and it brings them down and out, they start to think about the sad parts in their own lives. I've had many friends who have done nothing but mad me so sad or angry when i was around them bcuz thats all they ever were. Stay away from that person hun, bcuz in the long run you are going to be so much happier, and you will be able to figure out who you are, and not be some sad and down person :)

No on can truly make you depressed. You alone are in charge of your head and heart. If you allow someone to bring you down, it is you allowing it.

self esteem is nearly a right away reflect into one's self. If someone is insecure they act aggressively and defensively. in the journey that they are petrified of warfare of words they act shy and quiet, in the journey that they are searching for popularity they could act over hopefully and selfishly. each and every individual tells a narrative by technique of how that they act. it truly is person-pleasant for soemone to carry someone's' self esteem down because self esteem is a good reflect photo of how one has been treated in the time of their existence. If each and every male that you encountered informed you that you've been proper, personality and seems-wise then actual your self esteem may be by potential of the roof, it truly is why they say that proper females are deadly. specially because they're going to do some thing to get on accurate (no pun meant) and are commonly egocentric because of each and every of the positive feedback given to them on an primary foundation.

I agree with jdhayman and Va Va. Its only what you allow. I used to allow my husband to belittle me and call me names. I used to let it get me down. Well I got smart, cause I had enough of it. He called me a ***** one time, and believe me that was the last. I told him if he ever called me that again, he'll be a sorry dude. Now whenever he tries to ,( Like I said, Tries to) put me down for something, he better watch out, cause I'd be a jumping down his throat , cause I believe everybody deserves respect in this life My Bible tells me, Be Strong and Couragous. That's just what I did. No more poor me baby.. Yeah you can get depressed , only if YOU ALLOW IT!!!!!!

Yes it is possible if you believe what they say. (if they are putting you down) or if the person that you are hanging with is depressed all the time. You need to give me more details please.

by constantly berrating you, putting you down, making everything so miserable so that you can get sucked into it as well... and because the other person is not strong enough to stand up for theirself.

Misery likes company--they are miserable, so they do everything to make you miserable, and unfortunately nine times out of ten it works because those who are made miserable allow it to happen.
