I was reading up on what essential oils to avoid during pregnancy and found some on a list to avoid such as Basil and Black Pepper and Ginger.
My question: Is it just as harmful to even EAT fresh basil or ginger during pregnancy?? Or, is it just because of the high concentration of essential oils?

Try the site below. It has a lot of the herbs to avoid and use in limited quantity and why. I noticed quite a few are okay in moderation, but you want to avoid them in their oil form entirely.

My doc doesn't want me on any herbs and it was very hard for me at first..I love them and what they can do for my body. He feels that just about every one is not safe because you never know what quality you are getting when you buy over the counter. Eating fresh herbs is usually fine, just in moderation and their natural form.

Take care and have a good pregnancy.

You must be doing everything by the book. I have 2 kids and I ate all kinds of stuff. My kids were born fine and if you're sitting there worrying about essential oils and stuff, well you have way too much time on your hands. Enjoy your pregnancy girl!

Ginger is actually recommended by lots of OB/GYNs as a non-pharmaceutical remedy for pregnancy-induced nausea.
