I am prepared to bet you my last dollar that the US just sabre rattle and do nothing about N Korea. It has had the opportunity for years but instead chose Iraq. China is watching.
mckenziecalhoun; sounds like excuses for cowardice to me.

There are already some 50,000 American soldiers in South Korea near the border with the North. Most analyst think that if we removed them North would invade the south - again. We will not send troops into NK; we might bomb them pretty good; send a few planes in (stealth types) but probably use cruise missiles and knock on a few key targets when the time is right.

I have doubts to whether we have 100% ability to wage a full scale war in another nation at the same time that we have a massive troop force in Iraq, and Afghanistan. Mark my words, a war with N. Korea will dwarf the war in Iraq by a factor of 3, their military machine is not as antiquated and beat up as Iraq's was, it will be a war, with casualities possibly worse then VietNam. Many people seem to think the we have the ability to wage endless war with any nation in the world, while in a case of self defense, we would fight to the last man, when there is no immediate imminent danger, especially when we have a large portion of our soldiers elsewhere, it's just not practical or illogical. But hey, people can make believe all they want if it makes them happy, as long as it does'nt hurt me or anyone else. I did however forget that we already have a large amount of troops there, but it is not anywhere near the amount needed to secure and occupy the country, perhaps we could do it with the help of the S.Koreans, but I'm not sure.

There are already thousands of U.S. troops in South Korea, most of the fighting part on or near the border with the north.
But it is my understanding that the north has a massive number of conventional artillery pieces just inside their border and Seoul is within easy range so if that happens, regardless of U.S. air power ( which may not be that superior in fighters) a good part of South Korea would be obliterated as well as the U.S. forces present.

USA are the self designated police force of the world, they are also in the right ... always in the right and never wrong.
Troops will not be sent to North Korea ... there is no oil !!!
Anyway, the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan still need to be won - this will take 100 years because terrorists are born every day and war seems to breed them rather than destroy them. We must find another way to stop bloodshed around the world and stopping legal and illegal wars, killings and terrorism - not matter what country you live in, and no matter what viewpoint you have of other nations.

Why all the hub bub?? This is just bullshit from a crazy leader in North Korea. He is just testing our patience. Calm down everyone. China and Russia will put this little kook back into his padded room, the press will go home, and life will return to normal. I can't believe the amount of people who are ready to go nuclear here. I support the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and IF we are successfully attacked by this nut, then hell yeah....Katy bar the door!, but that hasn't happened, so let's just be cool.

No. There's no real reason to do so. The North Koreans are dirt poor, their military looks impressive but has no depth. They wouldn't last two weeks in a conventional conflict with the US. Their leader is a paranoid megalomaniac, and even China is losing patience with them. Should they successfully launch a missle toward Japan, the US will intercept it, then most likely obliterate the base from which it was launched with conventional weapons.

We should not send troops to N Korea! We have huge conventional bombs called MOABS the Mother Of All Bombs. They have nuke explosive power but NO radiation. We should blow every PongYang of whatever the capitol is called clean off the map! And do Iran at the same time! 3am sounds good to me.

We don't have adequate troop strength until after we finish in Iraq and Afghanistan, however we could get the South Koreans to provide most of the Infantry while we back them up in planes choppers and tanks.
