Thank you for being brave enough to post what many of us feel is the truth. All the STRANGE things the Gov is doing may just be a distraction from what they are REALLY doing.

The Government (and the political parties) answer to multi-national corporate demands. The people have lost their representation, but it happened much more earlier than most people think. It isn't new to Bushco, Clinton, Reagan, or Nixon. It was that way long before Johnson, Kennedy, Eisenhower, Truman, or FDR. It helped cause the Great Depression when President Coolidge said "The business of government is business". You can see greedy corporatist behind the scenes of TR's reign, even though he did throw a few token laws labor's way in order to keep them in check. You can go all the way back to US Grant. He was totally owned by corporations, and wall street bankers, and ended up paying the price for it later....broke, dying of cancer, racing to write his memoirs so his family would have an income after his death. It started with Republicans, it will end with Republicans, but they by no means are the only ones corrupted. Anyone with access to power is bought and paid for by corporate greed.

It may look that way, and it is even probably arguably that way. Think about something for a second. If 'Industry' had no stake in government, because the government couldn't do any favors for any particular group, would there be so much corruption? If we had a small government with limited powers, nobody would have any incentive to bribe a government official, because the official couldn't do anything for him. As liberals and socialists have pushed the government to intrude into more and more areas of life, there are more and more areas for corruption. We need to cut the government back to its constitutionally mandated functions only. This would clean house immensely.

People who seek wealth go into business, people who seek power go into politics. The Founding Fathers understood this and attempted to severely limit the power of the Federal government. They intended for State and local governments to take care of most public needs.
It is indeed unfortunate that over the years, the people have been fooled into allowing the Federal government too much power. Now, they use it and abuse it to try and run our daily lives.
That being said, there are differences between the parties, and while there are at times inconsistent in the application of their ideals, with practice you can predict how the parties will react to any given issue.
The most fundamental difference is that conservatives believe in the primacy of individual freedom, while liberals put more emphasis on responsibility to ones group, or to society as a whole. On average, liberals are more apt to follow their emotions, while Conservatives lean towards logic and reason. Conservatives stress equality of opportunity, while liberals try to achieve equality of outcome.

Why is it that people expect business to be powerless, silent, and never to complain?
Who would be stupid enough to undermine our country's business interests? Talk about self-destructive!
I understand why socialists would want it, but who wants socialists? What a failed experiment, repeatedly, was that!
Congress answers to ALL the people and groups within the U.S.A., not JUST YOU. Spreading seditious rumors about our country does not make you look better.

They are all corrupted by greed. This is why from time to time we need to elect other people from time to time.
We should have term limits too but this will not happen in our lifetime I am afraid
