I had originally assumed that all of the extra 300 watts was wasted, but a friend's Thermatake PS that shows wattage used (if its correct) shows much less actually being used. Better to plan for expansion yes, but I don't like to waste, and its noiser and hotter with larger supplies.

The 600 watts represents the maximum available. If you're only using 300, that's all your electric company will charge you for. No wasted electricity.

None, the power supply only provides what power is needed. The 600 watts is the maximum it can provide.

You dont waste any, it will be fine as long as you dont use less than 300 watts
