In George Orwells 1984 the government used scare tactics to slowly take away the peoples freedoms. The books government would stage fake bombings and attacks in order to take the peoples privacie's away under the excuse of "national security". It eventually turned into a police state.

Does any of this sound familier? If counter terrorist experts keep telling us that Al-Qeada doesn't plot over the phone. They don't use our banking methods, and they are trained by experts, not trained over the internet. Than whats the excuse for these invasion of privacy's to be taken away?

Could this be the reason Bush isn't really trying to catch Bin Laden? Is Bin Laden the boogey man Bush needs to dwindle down our freedom?

Is ABC news correct when they mentioned that "whenever the Bush administration is caught invading our privacy's, all of a sudden Osama Bin Laden releases a tape right afterwards". If we complain about our pricacy's a scare tactic is then used.

Our is this all coincedence

TO MCKENZIECALHOUN

I think the pizza you just ate had the wrong kind of mushrooms.

In case you don't know (what a shocker that is) the people saying these things are time magazine, news week, C.N.N, C.NBC, Washington post, New York times, the B.B.C.

Thats an awful lot of solid news sources who have backed up all their claims. If it's wrong than how come the Bush administration isn't denying these things?

And if you have read everyone else's opinions you'll see your in the minority.

You tried the old "if anyone bad lips Bush we'll just call them a traitor" routine. One problem, no one buys that anymore.

The only traitor is you for condoning people who take away freedoms. Hey mckenziecalhoun, the Soviet Union called, they want their political system back.

Yes, the Bush administration is using fear and panci to take away our privacy and freedom. If W is about anything, he's all about consolidating power around himself. And, as Ben Franklin warned us, "He who would sacrifice individual liberty for a degree of safety deserves neither liberty nor safety." In BushWorld, he, his administration and more than 58 million "Americans" deserve neither liberty nor safety.

It would seem that we are definitely afraid that the powers that be are manipulating us , and to some extent Id say yes they are but to what extent we will never know . there are things going on here on earth that it would be better if we didnt know at all . suffice to say they believe they are protecting us. and they are . however when someone like George Bush is compared to the like of Bill Clinton. then you can clearly see the difference of what these people think is good for us. how you feel about it is irrelevant because there isn`t anything you can do . country foreign policies are totally wrong sometimes. as to the middle east and the muslim people they have a way of dealing with their own problems.sometimes not always we should leave them alone.the men and women who put their lives at risk for us deserve our total respect and thanks If the governments who send these people in harms way dont do it for the right reasons then that is an abuse of power .power we the voters have given them and thankfully for now we can take it away.
Just Vote SMART remember this though the likes of bin laden thinks that we are a threat to him ,what he believes and a threat to his very existence this is why he left a capalist family (weren`t his family all rich Saudi building contractors ?)he came from and took up arms against us

What a laugh, calling Fox News a conservative news service.... ROTFLMAO, they have drifted steadily left in the past four years..... Do you bother to really listen to what they say, digest it.... it is not conservative, it only brushes the middle of the road while driving in the left lane. On the other hand, many of the other news orgs are in the left ditch. Racism and scare tactics have long been the trademark of the Democrats. Maybe the Republicans are learning from them. Who wants to destroy the 2nd Amendment? the Democrats and liberals. Who wants to raise taxes even though high taxes lower gov't. revenue? the Democrats Who cries about Social Security yet puts tax on it and first dipped into the so-called fund? the Democrats...... NOW, who is in power and is not undoing the damage done by the Democrats? the Republicans..... they are in the same car with the Democrats, traveling the same road, playing political football with the issues and they do not have America's best interests at heart, I call them all corrupt.

I compleatly agree with you! You, who ever you are should meet up with my old tech-aplications teacher. We would have political debates like this all the time. Bush IS using this as en excuse to invade our privacy. Slowly BUT surely our rights ARE being taken away. Correct me if I'm wrong please but I think I'm an Anarchy. I despise opur Government for trying to take away what is rightfully ours and I do plan to stop this treachoury. We cannot let Bush or anyone do this to us anymore! If we allow him to tap our phone calls or read our mail/e-mail then what will happen next?
Will he edit what we write in the paper? Or Say on t.v/radio/ at school? School...yes that's another good point. Will he try to invade the schools next by, I don't know brainwashing us or something.

I know what must sound crazy, even I agree but he could do it. I HOPE YOUR READING THIS BUSH. I'M GOING TO TAKE DOWN YOUR STUPID OPERATION SO BE READY FOR ME! (Sry if I sound crazy, I'm really not. I just get really mad about this kinda crap) Oh and while I'm at it THE RICH AND POWERFULL are going to be GONE as well.

We all desreve eqaul rights and just becuase your rich shouldn't mean that you can snap your fingers and get money that should go to poorer people ( Like those programs that help disabled people the goverment cut back funds for) so the RICH people could have MORE MONEY. And AND! Why should the Government tell us what we can or cannot do when it comes down to abortion. If you outlaw it, SO WHAT? IT'S STILL GOING TO HAPPEN One way or another if you don't want that baby you're going to get rid of it right?

I myself think that;s wrong becuase if your going to be stupid and not use a condom then if you don't have a special conditon is which you'll die if you have the baby then you should have it and put it up for adoption if you don't want it, but by outlawing abortion your not solving anything. Oh yeah, and about the whole Gay thing he despises. I have gay friends and gay family. What ever makes them hapyy is good enough for me and should be good enough for them. And just becuase the Bible says it's wrong DOES NOT MEAN that EVERYONE has to follow it's rules. GET OVER IT NOT EVERYONE IS THE SAME THEREFOR NOT EVERYONE HAVE THE SAME BELIEFS!

I'm sorry for taking up space and leering away from your original question.

Of course they are. This whole war is based on their scare technique..or do you believe there were wmds?
What amazes me is the low the Bush admininstration is willing to stoop to. Obviously, if we wanted Bin laden bad enough we would have caught him a long time ago. Bush likes Bin laden right where he is. Controlled, but still out there. An ideal pawn really. He cant do much damage where he is, but Bush can still use him as his excuse to fight in Iraq. Its scary folks... what civil liberities will we have left in a few yrs?

I've heard this crap from the left so much over the past few years that I'm getting sick of it. When someone can show me where we have lost any of the freedoms guaranteed by the US Constitution, then I'll be willing to listen. Until then, find a job, take up a hobby, get married and raise kids ... do SOMEthing constructive.

I would think not. Whether you like him or not he is still gonna be gone after 2008 so limiting the freedoms and right to privacy of the nation doesn't do him any good. Remeber he has two daughters, and I don't think he wants the FBI pulling a panty raid on them when he gets out of office.

NO! If the Bush Admin really wanted to take our freedoms, they would have done MUCH worse after September 11. They just really don't want to look out their office windows and see the nose of a 747 coming at them. Have you ever been to a foreign country? Try it! You'll leave skid-marks getting back to the US.

Your coincidences are coincidentally VERY selective.

No, he is not. You are. You are the one being seditious and siding with our enemies. You are the one ignoring the dangers we face for the sake of spreading unfounded rumors, undermining our country, lying about our President.

You have sided with the enemy. We see you.

Oh, I know, you have free speech. You have confused what you do (sedition) with Patriotism. You are just the opposite.

We also have free speech. Expect us to answer you. Some of us still respect our elected leaders and system, whether Democrat or Republican.

You have shamed yourself, publically. Some of us still have enough backbone to call a traitor a traitor.

Yes the Bush admin is using these tactics to reform America in their ideal. They are using tactics espoused by Herman Goering during ww2. convince the public they are at risk and condemn the decenter as unpatriotic, the fear-full of our nation fall for these tricks like sheep. I continue to try to remember what Ben Franklin said. " He that would sacrifice freedom in the name of security, deserves neither".
