My husband and I will be in Boston for a long weekend (for his 40th birthday), and are planning on staying on Newbury Street, near the Freedom Trail. We're hoping someone local can recommend some good restaurants (especially those with authentic Boston cuisine) in that area. Thanks!

I second (or third) Legal Seafoods. I have a friend who actually goes straight from Logan to Legal Seafoods when he gets into Boston, no stops in between. Wicked great chowder.

Ye Olde Union Oyster House-the oldest operating restaurant in the US. See the booth where Senator JFK took his lunches. (Call ahead to reserve the booth.) Fantastic seafood-especially chowdah!

the union oyster house is a must! my brother came to visit for the first time and that was his favorite place we ate at the whole week he was here. legal seafood is also good!
