Interesting fact, the word that has been translated as virgin in most versions of the Bible can also mean simply "young girl."

The movie Dogma poses a tidy solution to this: Mary was a virgin when she had Jesus but after that it was okay for her and Joseph to get it on. They didn't not ever have sex, just until she had Jesus. And Mary and Joseph became married when Mary was six months pregnant, or so says the New Testament, women that pregnant don't really feel like having sex all that much.

Here is something to get you started on your research. At that time, the word "virgin" had a slightly different meaning. And at that time, there was such a thing as a "trial marriage" of a year. During the trial marriage, the woman could have a baby and still be called a "virgin". If the trial marriage didn't work out, the woman may have remained a "virgin" until she got officially married.
Now go and do the research.

It was all God's plan. God told Joseph to take Mary as his wife. Joseph believed in God. Plan was for Jesus to be born of a Virgin, which Mary was. Everyone should obey God as well as Joseph and Mary.

i don't really understand ur question. but both mary and joseph had vowed virginity and celeibacy to God. so they were and still are considers virgins by the church. since joseph had consecrated his life to God (vowing not to drink wine cutt his hair or have sex) he was confussed when God asked him to marry mary. God wanted Jesus to have an earthly father, and someone to protect mary. altho mary and joseph never had relations, i never discovered if they loved each other in a romantic way. its possible tho they were married they loved each other like brother and sister.
