Jeanne Pruett had the #1 hit (in 1973), though it was recorded by Loretta Lynn the same year, and has been covered by lots of other people, including The Bellamy Brothers, Martina McBride, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Jr., and Tammy Wynette.

Jeanne Pruett
Loretta Lynn
Dolly Parton
and Martina McBride has the most recent remake

Satin sheets to lie on
Satin pillows to cry on
Still I'm not happy don't you see
Big long Cadillacs, tailor maids upon my back
Still I want you to set me free

I've found another man
Who can give more than you can
Though you've given me everything that money can buy
But your money can't hold me tight
Like he does on a long long night
No, you didn't keep me satisfied

*How often do you get "pocket money" ? I babysit and sell old junk of mine, other than that I only get it if I have no cash of my own and need it for something necessary. Eg. Not blowing $50 on a trip to Mc Donald's. *How much will you get? $12 an hour : ) *what do you allocate pocket money for? -$20 a month for phone top up. -$20 a week for bus, going out food and weekend leisure. -Save rest for University...blah blah blah because I will "appreciate it when older" *What will you do if your parents stopped giving you pocket money? Not care because I work. *Do you think "pocket money" gives a sense of independence, and a measure of choice in making decisions about how the money is spent? No, it lets you think everything in life comes easy. I can understand parents giving a child say $20 a week for going out with their friends ( letting them have a social life), but making them work for it.... Dishes etc. Personally I would prefer to thrive for mu money, not just have it handed to me on a silver plate. My friend gets about $40 a week put onto her card, and she basically spends it on make up, clothes, and sh*t like that. Can't blame people like that really, their rich, they don't need to think about budgets and sh*t.
