Because for most people, they are more comfortable in the safety of their own home. On line there is no face to face pressure, they can take the time to think out their answers, and be more creative. Where in person they have to be spontaneous, and for most of us that just doesn't work. So in real life we just sound like a big dork!

Remember when it was cool just to BE on-line?
Back when AOL shut down on the west coast at 11:00pm.
And they charged $2.95 per hour.
I remember a late evening in '96 or '97, being one of the only two people on-line. Just chatting on-line. Just the two of us all alone on the internet. I thought she was cool just for being there. Our son is in the 1st grade.

Because online we can be ourselves where out in the real world we have to act like we are somebody we are not because of how people want us to act. Like when we go to work, we cannot act like who we are because if we did..we'd get in trouble. But on here we can be who we really are because no one really cares.

Because you only get to see the ideal form of the person, and the person shows their best. In real life you get to have problems, or be happy, and has they don't see/interact with you then you don't look at their way to react to situations, and then you don't get to see the real person.

For a lot of us, it is easier to write our thoughts - when we speak, sometimes we say the wrong thing. By writing, we can carefully consider what we are saying before we say it.
