Everytime i put the toothpicks in the sides of the pit and suspend it in the glass of water but they almost always rot or they don't do anything for well over a month or so. Does anyone have any advise that could guarantee that they would sprout?

I've sprouted avocado stones. We live in the far south of NZ where it's quite cool. For two years running I had no luck. Then we got a log burner installed and the house is now quite warm, and several have sprouted indoors. Avocado trees grow to about 10 metres, so I dunno what we'll do with them then.

Try putting 4 toothpicks in the pit, and keep about 1/4 of the pit sitting in the water.

I grew once a lengthy time period in the past. i become in college on the time and threw it away when I left even if it did enhance. First I placed toothpics interior the seed and put in a pitcher of water so about 0.5 of the seed become interior the water. as quickly because it began to "sprout" I transfered to a huge pot. (about a 12"-18" in diameter and 12"-18" deep). I in simple terms used familiar potting soil and not in any respect something else. The plant were given to be about 2 ft tall earlier I threw it out.
