Love is - Being best friends, giving and taking, mutual respect, being able to discuss differences and problems and working out solutions - even if its to agree to disagree - that brings 'closure' - then, drop it, Never bringing up ancient history [mistakes that were made in the past], love is passion, feeling your heart beat faster when you know your mate is expected to come to you, love is working on your relationship daily and being loving and physically receptive [use it or lose it], love is, should the day come when death intervenes, not being sorry for anything the years have brought and remembering only the good times. But most of all - LOVE is a treasured feeling that only comes once in a lifetime - If you've got it, cherish it - - - - - Take care of it like a precious treasure - - - -

Love is liking the person you love, you feel empty when they aren't there to share your day to day living activities. The person you love is your best friend you can say or do anything with them. If you do something they disapprove of they are forgiving and so are you when they also make mistakes. Love is being able to trust in the person you love as well as being trustworthy to them. Being with anyone else pales in comparison to being with the one you love.

love is actually a selfish emotion.

think of it this way . you are married and your spouse has an affair. if you really love the spouse. you should be happy for her/him. because it is something that they need. if you really truely love him/her it should be alright. if you are upset or feel cheated then maybe your love for them is conditional. which is not really love. true love is unconditional.

I was once told that love is not a feeling. That it is instead an act of selfless courage.

There is no real answer to this question but what I have learned of what love is to me and that is the word LOVE itself holds the answer.......

(L)isten: and Validate them by hearing and empathizing.
(O)verlook: their minor character flaws as they will overlook yours.
(V)alue: who they are and what they mean to you.
(E)xpress: how you love them not just with words but with actions.
