Depending on where you are (country, state) you may need a warrant to "throw the staff out". However. If you take a set of locks along accompanied by some large, well-dressed thugs, most people will leave peacefully. Just don't let them actually touch anyone or you'll have a lawsuit on your hands!

Call your local police and ask them first because your tenant is going to call them when he finds the doors locked and his stuff gone. If you and the police are on the same side then you're cleared.

Well it depends on what your lease or lack-there-of states. Also it depends on the laws in your state. My mom had to put in her lease that she has the right to go in and change the locks, so if you don't have that in there you should get that done. If you don't you can call the sheriffs office and they'll evict them.
