Uhh Gucci is designer. Designer accesories like purses usually tend to last longer than like a bag from Target.

Gucci has higher marketing costs for design, production, and advertising PER BAG and per item than Target does.
Gucci would go broke but doesn't because its products are aimed at a "market segment" with "high discretionary income," meaning it aims to sell to people who have money to burn.
Target, on the other hand, would go broke if it raised its prices and pretended to be a classy, exclusive retailer. Target has a different "market segment."
Then there are people like me who buy the cheapest stuff we can, but throw up some smoke screens. I wear very inexpensive clothes EXCEPT FOR my nice Seiko sports watch and my Hilfiger shirts. So I'm a miser who looks like I have some spare money to spend on fashion... but I don't.

I would assume because Target seems like a much larger chain of stores so they earn more money and can sell items for less. I may be wrong so correct me if I am because that is only a guess.

coz some people get rich even if the clothes they designed are crap !!!!! target is just as good as Gucci in quality its all in the name only rich idiots buy designer crap its a rip off and the designers profit 10000000000000000000% from it even though they bought the materials from poor countries that only charge them penny's for the cloth !!! i hate such kinda lucky rich loosers!!!!!!!

There are 2 reasons: the materials used in their products are more difficult to get within the Corporate System to sustain.
Target is cheaper with less quality products and no adversting required.
