McDonalds actually does care about your grades; if you have a D average or below then they may think twice about hiring you. If it is only a summer job, and you are not in summer school then they may excuse low grades. If you have at least a C average then go for it.

McDonalds doesn't like to work its employees too hard so you can expect about 20-30 hours per week (if you work much more than that they have to give you benefits, which is more expensive for them). If you want closer to 20 hours then tell them so. Where they hit their crunch is early in the morning and on weekends. If you tell them that you are willing to work weekends (or at least one day a weekend), and you don't mind being on call to work they will be much more interested in hiring you. Turnover at McDonalds and people not showing up for work are pretty common so they are often looking for new employees.

McDonalds is a very clean-cut place, so show up to the interview in nice clothing, (but casual is still good enough). Make sure your hair is well groomed and that it can fit under a baseball cap. Have a big smile on your face and be upbeat. They like to see that in people. If you get an application and fill it out in the story, be prepared for and on the spot interview. It won’t be a long one.

When you get the job don't EVER say anything worse than darn. Cussing of any kind turns them off. Come to work rested, with a positive attitude, and be eager. You don't have to "suck up" to the boss, but they like to keep people who show "good energy." They will start you with some videos and put you on something easy like dressing the burgers. Listen for the buzzers, the French Fries, the fish, the chicken, and the apple pies. If you are not doing something just at that moment, then go ahead and pick up that task. That is a great way to show "good energy." Promotions can be rare, but they don't really mean much, a new nametag and a few more cents an hour, so don't worry about that. Try and do a good job and management will appreciate it. You will get a small eating allowance each day, so bring a can of coke and stick it in the refrigerator (don’t bring a 6-pack though, that’s pushing it). That way you can just pop back into the break area with your burger for your meal. They will usually give you one break a day.

Every McDonalds differs, most are owned by local people who only own a couple of stores, so the rules may change. But if you are a good employee they will want to keep you. They will be looser with your hours and if you have trouble in school they may even try and help.

I hope you get the job, good luck.

It depends on what state you are in. In some states, 16 is the age at which you are not legally compelled to be in school (like here in TX) so you can work without a permit.

In other states the work permit is issued by your school so if your grades suck, they might not give you one.

Also in some states if you drop out of high school, you lose your driver's license until you are 18.

But as a parent, I'd tell you that if you're doing badly at school, you need to be studying more and you have NO time for a job.

Get your grades up; then get a job.

Your grades ARE your job because while you don't get it now, your education is your KEY to being able to build a good future for yourself.

These days having only a high school diploma is very crippling in the job market; those without one are doomed to very low paying jobs unless they get lucky and learn a real skill or have some amazing talent.

Most people will need a college education to live even a middle class life.

So work on your school work and avoid a life of poverty.

Oh yeah, McDonald's is about as bad a job as anyone can get. Low pay, hard work, crummy conditions.

You can get a job, sure, but mcdonalds is a terrible place to work. My sister worked there at least 10 years ago and she still can't eat there. But if your doing poorly in school you might not want to work during school and try to catch up so that in the years on you don't have to still be working at mcdonalds.

You could apply there, and you could get your work permit. Not sure how it is in every state, but when I worked at 16, 20 hrs a week were allowed during school.

Maybe a job at McDonalds will make you want to do better in school. It is not too late to change your grades, please don't think that it is.

Try applying to many different places. Try to go to college, even if it's just at community college to start. It'll be the best thing you can do for yourself.

Talk to your teachers when you are having problems with the work, they will help. Trust me, you want to pull your grades up.

Are you kidding, or course you are? You are MANAGEMENT material for McDonald's and if you are bi-lingual than you can become CEO material, and to top it off if you are mistake prone than the Sky's the limit. Can you add? If so forget it. Are you courteous? Again, forget it. Can you speak English fluently? No chance. Can you handle a mop? Go for it. Can you flip a burger? Again management material. Can you ruin someones day? You already have the job.

You sound like a perfect prospect for McDonald's and if they are full of great candidates like yourself than don't forget:

Burger King

Taco Bell

Wendy's

In & Out Burger

Sonic

Arbys

And if you really want to go big time and impress your friends you are probably a shoo-in for the big prize in the sky: DENNYS

Good Luck

Yes, you probably need a permit and I imagine the hours are flexible since you're still in school, say 8-12 hours per week.

the permit depends on the state and you can. They do smile on good grades but if you can make hard hours, like closing and opening they may hire you. You should also work on better grades as an extra incentive. Hours depend on how much you apply yourself. If you are a good worker then you get hours.

soooooooooo this is your solution to your school trouble, getting a job that will go nowhere............ sounds like the thing to do would be to spend extra time getting your grades up so you can graduate and plan on getting a job that will support you a little better than that. At this rate, you'll be living with you rparents til you're 30

Sure, you don't need good grades to flip burgers! Expect maybe 10-12 hours a week at first. If you show the manager how good an employee you are, he/she may start giving you more hours.
