Why do you never see Carl Edwards father at his races?

I always see his mom but not his dad.

Carl's dad, Carl ”Mike” Edwards, has been racing modified stock cars and USAC midgets for four decades accumulating over 200 feature wins at several Midwestern tracks. I believe he's a mechanic and I suspect he's unable to get to all the races because he has to work, whereas Carl's mom is unencumbered and able to travel the circuit.
