Whenever I get my monthly I get sick. Sometimes it lasts a day, sometimes longer. I can't go anyway. I have to be near a bathroom. When I was younger I took the Birth Control pill and it helped, but I can't take that now because I have a blood clotting disorder. Does anyone have any suggestions to help me feel better? I can't take any med that has Ibuprofen in it. TY in advance for your help.

BOY SWEETIE IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU REALLY HAVE IT ROUGH LIKE I DID HUNDRED YEARS AGO.......I ASSUME YOUR GYN KNOWS ABOUT ALL OF THIS?........AND THEY CAN'T GIVE YOU ANYTHING TO HELP YOU OUT?.....I THINK I WOULD TRY TALKING TO YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR OR MAYBE SEE ANOTHER GYN...MAKE SURE WHEN YOU SEE THESE DOCTORS YOU TELL THEM EVERYTHING WHETHER IT EMBARRASSES YOU OR NOT...AND MAKE SURE YOU ASK LOT OF QUESTIONS...AND BY ALL MEANS IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE SAYING..ASK THEM TO PUT ALL THAT IN YOUR LANGUAGE SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY JUST TOLD YOU...IT'S REAL IMPORTANT TO YOU AS THEIR PATIENT TO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING AND SAYING ...YOU MAY HAVE TO NASTY TO THEM IN ORDER FOR THEM TO HEAR YOU BUT IT'S OK WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH..........IF YOU HAVE TO MAKE A LIST OF THINGS YOU WANT TO ASK OR WANT AN ANSWER FOR WRITE IT ALL DOWN ON PAPER AND TAKE IT WITH YOU.......THAT'S ABOUT THE BEST I CAN HELP YOU WITH IT....BUT DON'T FOOL WITH YOUR HEALTH......LIFE IS TOO PRECIOUS TO YOU......

You don't say why you have to stay near the bathroom (barfing, diarrhea, or heavy flow). If you can't take anything with ibuprofen in it then Midol or anything similar is out of the question as is the prescription medication Naproxen. Other than a hot water bottle or heating pad there's nothing else I can think of that doesn't need careful diagnosis and care by a gyno or a family doc. If it really is affecting you this way you should seek counsel from a MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL and not a bunch of amateurs on Yahoo.

I would ask your doctor if there is a correlation to your blood clotting disorder and your illness during your cycles.

I would suggest supplementing your diet with some extra iron a week before your cycles, and see if that helps...IF you can take it with your disorder...

Too advance for us "non-doctor folk"...good luck.

Go check with your gyno. She may be able to put you on a medication that doesn't interfear with your blood disorder.

Also, are you on a blood thinner such as heparin? If you are, then you're most likely able to take other medication to help with your cramps. And if not, look into it.

Good luck.
