I've noticed in the past 28 years of living in the US that everything is much more expensive for Canadians that the US. Why is this? Just curious. And I'm sure we learned it in school, I just can't recall ;)!!!

example, a magazine subscription is 18.00USD here, for Canadians, the same subscription is 27.00 USD

Because of our tax system where we have both provincial and federal sales tax, we have both federal and provincial income tax, we also have a universal health-care system that is funded by these taxes. Canadians usually work through until June 16th before any of the money they earned is theirs up until that point in time it's all going to go to the government. The cost for a gallon gas in Canada as of July 6 th is approximately $4.48 per gallon, most of this again is taxes and Canada imports no oil from the Middle East. This is part of the reason and only part of the reason why costs more in Canada.

My sister and brother-in-law live in Canada. Seal Flippers and Moose Antlers are a bargain compared to the States.
