I had one friend with a fantastic doll house filled with neat little miniatures and one who had an easy-bake oven.

To be honest, I am not a materialistic person at all. The doll house ignited in me a love for minatures. I don't have an enormous collection but if I see anything tiny and nicely rendered, even if it's from the dollar store, I MAY buy it.

I remember a friend of mine proudly displaying his new Nintendo Power Glove at a birthday party. Shortly thereafter i discovered i had the ability to create and animate stories using an old eight-milimeter camera, bits of wire and other household minutiae, and patience. It's natural to covet to an extent, sometimes when we see an object or a piece of clothing that gives tangible, exterior dimension and worth to something we feel but have difficulty expressing. Our wants reflect who we believe we are. But for every suppressed want, there is something internal that senses the opportunity to rise.

When I was seven years old, I had a best friend called Matt. My friend Matt had a Chopper bike with a big flag on a spring on the back. He also had an Evel Kneivel Stunt set. He got them both for Christmas. I wanted them both off him very much.
His Dad died the following year, and suddenly I didn't want the bike or the stunt set. I was just glad I still had my Dad.
Well, I was until I saw the brilliant toys he got from his relatives to cheer him up..!

When I was a kid my friends always had the latest computers and video games but my family couldn't afford the same for me. Now that I'm making a decent living of my own, I buy myself all the toys that I didn't have as a kid... new laptop, Xbox 360, etc.

Yes, I seem to remember that happening in the 4th grade, but I really had everything I needed and more besides. It's just that I wanted everything at that time.

My friend had this eight track radio thing that was shaped like a globe. Loved that thing. It was so modern.
