It's not the 21st Century for those who don't believe in God. The "21" is based on the birth of Christ.

Behind the prophets of the history of earth is a matching tempo behind all faiths, that of ascension and enlightenment. Humans are born with an evolutionary directive to expand consciousness, to become...enlightened.
Our history has only recorded the physical evolution of species, discarding the fact that consciousness has been evolving along with the physical changes the world has experience. Higher and higher levels of cognitive powers till we have gotten to the point that we can even turn the 'eye of source' back upon itself for study.
This planet is a matrix and we it's dreamers. Time to wake up and realize that it is time to awaken. The Matrix 1, was not far off.
Thought is energy, energy is matter and matter cannot be destroyed, only changed.
Thought does not 'dissipate' into the atmosphere. It coalesces and changes the pictures of what is presented.

It's biologically rooted in our brains to believe in some form of religion or another. However, there will always be those born without the need for religion, atheists. Believers and non-believers each carry evolutionary advantages if the ratio between believers and non-believers remains stable (95% to 5% or something like that). Perhaps we can apply Richard Dawkin's ideas into this discussion ...

faith isn't laziness and that's not brainwashing. no longer many of the time, a minimum of. there is multiple information to diminish back this up. At one time, the church offered each and each and every of the solutions. that isn't so anymore. The church now promises in ordinary words solutions that technological know-how can not grant, and would not attempt to argue with technological know-how. Posts like yours keep making me imagine of the southpark episode with the otters and that all of them are at conflict over the thanks to worship technological know-how the perfect. Your atheist beliefs are purely as indoctrinated and obdurate as a Christian's beliefs. Do you fairly imagine that your determination to no longer remember on a god is any extra rational that a decision TO remember on a god? properly obviously you do, yet you're incorrect. maximum religions are as logical because the subsequent, such as atheism (sure, atheism is a faith). It became Descartes who suggested, "i imagine, for this reason I exist". it extremely is all you ought to correctly be certain of. each and everything else is faith. And in case you could trust we are able to splice fish DNA right into a tomato, why won't be able to you've faith God did slightly gene splicing of his personal with a rib? Atheism makes me unhappy. without God, we are only piles of organic and organic remember shifting round on a rock, a surprisingly complicated chemical reaction. If that is what you want, high quality. yet i'm more suitable than that. fairly what i don't love about questions like those, is A) that's no longer a question in any respect. you do not care why human beings nevertheless trust, you purely favor to spread your message like a shameless televangelist. And B) you're attempting to wreck human beings's faith. and that is purely incorrect. Why do not you're taking a step decrease back and research your own beliefs?

Couple of reasons:
1) Because you can't fix stupid.
2) Because then people would have nothing to justify bombing goat herders in a foreign country (GawDs will)
3) People that never grew out of imaginary friends needed an upgrade to their old imaginary animal friend.
4) Justify going bareback to avoid rubbers and the pill
5) Which leads to having more stupid, ugly kids that have imaginary friends...
Start at the top of the list and repeat after reaching reason 5

The human psyche, in general, is at a pre-adolescent stage. It did not develop much from very ancient times. There must be a structural flaw in our brains that cause so many of us to choose fantasy and not continue to seek knowledge. Usually, it takes generations for the human brain to evolve and accept new ways of thinking, but in the case of religion, too many thousands of generations have passed without the human brain changing.

It is a part of human nature for want to believe that there is something out there taking care of us. It give people hope and relaxiation. For some, it even gives them a sense of self worth.

Because humanity is firmly rooted in ancient history and is afraid to evolve and learn and face the fact there is no god. That's whay we continue to lie to kids and tell them there's a Santa, and Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, etc. By the time kids grow up, they're afraid to think for themselves and continue to rely upon lies - i.e. religion.
It's sad and thanks to our President, we are de-evolving even further into the past and silly beliefs.
