my father owns a funeral home, and unfortunately he's not here right now, but I can give you some advice which might help.
First and foremost, you have to have your mortuary science degree. Fortunately, for my dad, my family was owned the funeral home business for three generations so it was easy to begin.
Basically, you buy a funeral place out ( I think) and let the government know. Start advertising in phone books. The funeral home MUST stay clean at all times. You will get checked on for that once a year.
If you would like to write back to me later, I could be a little bit more informative when my father gets back.
Sorry if that is all I know.
Good luck!!

You need the right key and the owners permission to enter the building, and don't forget to put the light on because you may see some things in there that make you jump!
