The Coriolis effect does indeed influence the direction that water 'vortices' down a plughole - I have tried this several times during my time as a merchant seaman, at various latitudes North and South of the equator. The effect is stronger closer to the poles, at the equator the water can rotate in either direction, and on one occasion near the equator, appeared to go straight down the plughole without any rotation !!

Your premise is false. That is just a myth - the water spins in a particular direction due to the shape and level of the drain.

Wow...it would appear that you watch your toilet flush a lot.....have you been to a therapist for this? Do You realize in therapy just exactly what this means George? Looks to me as though you are getting paid for this as well as your other duties. Are all of your 'followers' taking the same test...and one more thing....is it on a Bell Curve that you are being evaluated? If you want attention, then say so..... leave us to our own drains.

Thats right "Curious" ! ever since Bart Simpson called to Down-Under in that episode, everyone believes that water flows down differently in the 2 hemispheres...
