I realize this probably a frequently asked question, but tell me what you think. I'm looking for personal beliefs. I won't launch into my own, but one thing that I wish people would keep in mind is that it is not a black and white situation.

i want to answer and i feel it's too complex. you have to live here before you can even think of answering anything like that.

i'm not embarassed to say that i think the arabs should move out if there's to be any quiet around here. they have lots of other arab countries but for some reason everyone will always want our land.
like i said, it's a bit more complicated than that. anyone want answers, send me a message.

It is very difficult because feelings in the west and the Islamic world have become highly polarized.

In the US and Israel, there is the feeling that Israel is an island of democracy in a rough neighborhood which must be militarily strong, and be aggressive with its neighbors in order to survive. In both countries, Israel is depicted as the victim exercising its right of self-defense, and there is very little sympathy for the Palestinian cause. Media time and coverage is largely devoted to Israeli victims of terrorism; very little is given to Palestinian, and more recently, Lebanese victims of Israeli attacks.

In the Muslim world, Arabs on the street feel that their own governments are doing little to stand up to American aggression in the Middle East through Israel, which they largely see as an American proxy. Arabs have a long sense of history, and many see the establishment of the state of Israel in Palestine in term of the Crusades, when European Christians tried to wrest control of the Holy Land from the Muslims. (See the link below to read more about the Crusades.)

Peace will come around only if the two sides see each other as equals, with legitimate claims to wanting to live in the region, and recognize the futility of war in reaching a resolution.

If they are not able to reach peace, then time is on the side of the Arabs because they have a larger population, and because Israel is overly dependent on the US. If the US is no longer there to support Israel, its viability as a state ends.

Israel took that land and made it their own, when there were Arabs there for centuries. It's nice that Jews got their own country, but the Arabs were there first, and there wont be peace there until Jews realize that you cant just march into a country and kick everyone else out. Some Arabs did not have the money to leave and go to another country. That would be like some religious fanatics moving all their people to Maryland and kicking the people who have lived there for generations, or sticking the remaing people into refugee camps and ignoring them as citizens. I dont think there will be peace there until Jews are accountable for what they did in 1948 and 1967. It's my opinion and i know it doesnt go along with what everyone else thinks, but so what? I still live in the US and my freedom of speech is protected by the US Constitution.

I dont think its possible to answer this question at all.

But then I just wish to add on one more scenario.

WHAT IF all the Jews really "evaporated" from Israel? Will there truly be peace and happiness for the Palestinians? Will Middle east really get stability?

Without Israel, I believe Arabs will still find new enemies and carry on fighting..the answer is in the genes.

The Israeli conflict has been occuring since the creation of Israel. The Palistians have Jordan and Egypt to go back to, but both countries reject that notion. Ultimatley there will not be any peace with a Terrorist Organization in control of the Palistian government. Until the Palistians choose a path to peace there will be conflict.

What about the Israelis and their willingness to compromise? Israeli politics shows a wide range of opinions and factions within the government. They are not in control of one party, but a collaition of many.

I'm not Jewish or of any country there. I think that with all the years of fighting, that there is no chance for a lasting peace. According to what I've read, the Arab Nations want to utterly destroy all Jews, so that doesn't leave much room for peace.I believe that Israel will survive anything thrown at it though..... through Devine intervention.

even as Palestinians get over the undeniable reality that "Palestine" is nonexistant and Israel is right here to stay. even as they could acknowlege that and their terrorist leaders provide up sending suicide bombers/missles into the rustic. the ingredient is it truly isn't any longer gonna ensue, so who's conscious. you will locate the boastful those who reason the conflict with Israel by technique of reading that remark by technique of math. they do no longer have the want to make peace, they admit that they pick to damage Israel and throw the jewish human beings into the sea.. you could't ascertain conflict with human beings like that.

Yes. There is a way to live peacefully. In the case of Israel, if the terrorists lay down their weapons, the region will be at peace. Contrarily, if Israel were to lay down her weapons, the country would be destroyed.

In the United States, former Israelis and former Palestinians are able to live as neighbors without animosity or hatred.
Perhaps the leaders should look to the people, instead of the people looking to the leaders.

No.

Many Arabs believe that Israel does not have a right to exist and many Islamic terrorist organizations (Hamas, Hezbollah) have as their stated goals:

1) the destruction of Israel, and
2) the killing of all Jews.

Hmmm... not much room for peaceful co-existence there!
