We just stayed at the Aladdin, soon to be the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. We had a nice time, nice rooms, and it wasn't overly expensive through a travel site: http://www.ytbnet.com/?userid=pgttravel

As others said, it depends on price. For $250 on up, the Venetian and Ceasars are probably the two best. They both have excellent restaurants, bars, casinos, and shopping right in the hotel.
For $150 I would look at perhaps NYNY, Alladin, Paris, Mandalay Bay (best pool in Vegas), and Luxor. All very nice.
For $100 your best bet for a big casino is probably Excalibur. Very tacky but really, how long will you be in your room when not sleeping? A slot machine is a slot machine no matter where you are. Or you can go with one of the older ones on the strip like Stardust, Emperial Palace.
For possibly even less, stay in old Las Vegas on Freemont Street. Something like the Golden Nugget. You should check out Freemont street anyway. Very cheap gambling, food, etc. The strip in general is very expensive.
For even less stay off the strip at a place like Terribles which is one of the popular places for locals.
Pound for pound I would recommend the $150ish places. Depending on time of year and if you're there on the weekend or weekdays these places can even dip down to $100 or less.

Some basic questions come to mind(I am Owner of a Travel Agency) in regards to planning a trip to Vegas:
1-How long will the trip be for?
2-How many?
3-Your Travel budget?
4-Departure and return date?
Those minor issues aside, a trip to Vegas is very doable. Something you may want to consider(and again your Travel budget is a consideration) is an "Air/Hotel vacation package". Those normally include air and hotel; different Hotels/Casinos offer additional upgrades as well.
If you could kindly either call, email me at: indysteve1563@yahoo.com, or reach me through Yahoo Messenger with what you have in mind, we can check into what's available to you and will make the most sense, both time-wise and just as important....cost-wise.

If you pick a 4 star on the strip you will be fine. Just about all of the hotels are really nice. I think the Bellagio is the nicest, but I have never stayed at Wynn, and I heard that was very nice as well.

All Las Vegas hotels and casinos are great, huge and very luxurious. I recommend you any at the Strip. The fun isn't just the game but visiting the other hotels.
It's a great place for vacations.
Have fun!

Young adults like the Palms and all its hype.
Older adults seem to prefer the real "Strip" and places like the Bellagio, Wynn, Mandalay Bay and The Venetian.
If you want to save $$, you can stay at Circus Circus and take a cab over to the strip
For the best airfare deals, look into packages at www.swavacations.com (Southwest airlines official travel agency)

LJ Robbie, Circus Circus IS on the strip.
Don't stay at the NYNY unless it is free.
If you want to save money, stay off the strip and commute.
Don't stay downtown (Fremont St.) unless you are adventurous and do not act like a victim.
Good Luck
