I need help with my homework on chemisty. I do not understand this question. The question is:

In absolutely pure water the hydroxide ion concentration is 1.0 * 10 to X power where X = ???

Pure water is neutral. Therefore the concentration of H+ ions is equal to that of OH- ions = 1 x 10^-7M. This is because the product of H+ ions and OH- ions must always be 1 x 10^-14.
