Gaelic in taught in lots of schools and I would bet that most Irish people would recognise at least 3 words anyway !:-)

Agree BH...have been in Ireland lots of time........but not to recognise written gaelic ???

Right on Goatboy ! My answer using simple sentences in Irish from a book "Irish for Beginners" bought in Galway, Ireland got deleted by this guy and I received a violation !!!

When I visited Ireland, many of the people there didn't speak Irish...what little many knew, was due to all the signs being in both English and Irish...

It's a shame the language is not more prevalent there...I bought a a tape and booklet and tried to learn a bit, but of course when I got back here to the US there was no one with whom I could practice it...

Truthfully he failed his gaelic class in highschool. Who really cares about if he can speak gaelic? Honestly he's such an amazing man.

gaelic is a dying language, just because you come from ireland does not mean you speak gaelic, just like if you come from wales you speak welsh
