I think former Argentine striker, Batistuta, and colleagues Fernando Redondo, and Claudio Caniggia, were of a pedigree worthy of gold. Unfortunately various circumstances always kept the ultimate prize elusive from them. Dennis Bergkamp of Netherlands is another player that comes to mind. Oh, and that Romanian guy, Haggi. There is a gigantic list, unfortuantely it never panned out for any of these players.
