North Korea is a "monster" created by China, and to a lesser extent, the former USSR, and was and is being used to focus the world's attention on North Korea rather than China or Russia. I describe it as a "monster" because, now, China is terrified of a total collapse of its propped up government, as it would create an enormous influx of starving North Koreans into China. So, in short, it started out as a "tool" of China, but has now become an insolvable problem for them, considering that China itself lives on the brink of starvation itself. It is my surmise that the five parties besides North Korea in the Six Party Talks will finally give North Korea ultimatums that will cause the solutions of North Korea's human crisis, as well as halting its foreign relations threats. In my opinion, they will be forced to, as North Korea is headed for total collapse in the near future. North Korea is China's problem, and eventually, they will be forced to agree with the rest of the countries that North Korea's problems must be addressed, and addressed rapidly. Franky, I predict China will quietly, but forcibly remove the current government and install a government willing to cooperate with the five other parties.

This guy is a threat due to his stupidity. He has toys that he shouldn't have, but it's obvious after the failure of the Taepodong-2 missle which crashed only 30-40 seconds into it's flight that they don't have the sufficient technology to compete in modern warfare. Should they do something drastic, the powers in the region could crush the country. However, it is most likely this guy is playing a bluff and pushing his weight around as usual, beggin for attention.

N.Korea's missile is sad, It barely reaches Alaska with the great circle route. They are using the missile as a scare tactic, people hear nuclear and the crap themselves. There really isn't any danger to anyone in the US. Japan, China, and Russia on the other hand have more to worry about. N.Korea thinks that if they have a nuclear weapon they will be just as powerful as countries like the US. They do not realize there is more to it than a powerful arsenal of weapons. Also N.Korea knows that if they do bomb anybody the US would destroy their "nuclear" capabilities in a matter of minutes, also probably taking down most of their military capabilities too. So N.Korea still doesn't have the power or edge that they wanted.

Nothing is going to happen. He's just shooting missles for attention. Plus, they didn't even go anywhere. The chances of North Korea being a puppet government is highly unlikely.

the country of N. Korea is on a downward spiral towards economic collapse and international isolationism. This act done in recent days will hasten this collapse because of the sanctions to be imposed on them by the UN and the US. They were warned, and now they will pay the price. An aggressive missile program requires a lot of money and technology exchange, much cooperation from other countries, something they will no longer acquire.

I don't think there will be much progress with N. Korea, if any, in the near future. The U.N. is absolutely useless with these things, and I think the only player to carry any weight with N. Korea is China, who will do only the most minimum enforcement of aggressive behavior. I think it will be a prolonged and frustrating standoff between N. Korea and the rest of the world.
