Whoever they back will more than likely be elected, after the mess the Republicans have caused. It's time to have Democrat leadership once again and once again be prosperous.

I have actually done some historic research on this and he historical record shows the presidency has been a truly open seat -- an election with neither a sitting president or vice president seeking the office -- only nine times since 1876. It also shows the White House has changed party hands only four times in those nine races and it changed from Republican to Democrat only once. In fact, that circumstance -- a truly open presidency switching from Republican to Democrat -- has not happened since the 1884 election when Grover Cleveland beat James Blaine. Interestingly, in each of the four elections in which the presidency was a truly open seat and the election result saw the opposition party assume the White House, the winner was a person who never before sought national office.
Sooooo, I'm betting on Bill Richardson for President and Evan Bayh for Veep.

Some nobody! America's not ready for a female president in Clinton, Democrats typically don't send prior canidates back into a pres. election so that rules out Kerry and Gore (whom said numerous times he won't run again).
So it'll probably be some noname person!

Just to let ya know the Republicans are thinking of running Bush's Brother the Florida Governor for President in 08 either him or Cheney (or as he likes to be called the devils right hand)

I don't believe all of the hype about Hillary Clinton being the nominee, they'll probably put her as the VP - and that would ensure victory for the Dems, regardless of who they put on the top.
I think they'll go with Mark Warner, Wesley Clark, John Edwards, or Russ Feingold.
John Kerry will likely run - though I don't think that he will win.
Joe Biden will run, but he has too many skeletons in the closet to win the nomination. If they put Warner, Clark, Edwards or Feingold at the top of the ticket, and then put Hillary at the bottom, I don't think anybody from the GOP can beat them. Not right now, at least...

It doesn't matter. All of them are pretending to be moderates and not the marxist they really are. On the other hand the Reps are pretending not to be in bed with the big corperations. 80% of the poeple are in the middle and no one running is even close to the middle. I guess it comes down to who fools the most people. Please, no more Clintons or Bushes!!!!!!!

I dunno, too soon to tell since not a whole lot of people (on either side) has definitely declared that they intend to run. Certainly there is a lot of speculation that Hillary and John Kerry will run. But at this point this is only speculation.
