I just really thought it was in very bad taste to be out with me buying detergent for an x wife. He said it was because his son reminded him it was on sale and he wanted to do it for his kids mother. So, what do you make of that?

Well, I am sure he has to have a connection to her because they have a son, so that is something that you will have to get use to. I am sure there is nothing more to it.

If it bothers you, tell him to take a hike. The X and his son will be in his life and if buying soap for her bothers you, there will be LOT more things that are likely to bother you more. Think about it because that's a nice thing he did. If he does nice things for others, he's likely to do nice things for you. You make it sound as tho his buying soap was the high point of your time together. It wasn't was it? Consider carefully.

That's really odd. She is a big girl and can buy her own dish soap. I don't think he's ready to move on... find someone who is emotionally available.
