Well, you don't say what you've done that causes the power cord to quit working. If you've got one that has a problem, replace it. If you're able to use it for a little while, by keeping it in one position, you have a broken wire inside the casing of the cord, and that can lead to electrocution.
As for cost of what ya buy, most of us buy what we can afford, so, ignore those who complain about where the product is made.

This is what happens with 'Made in China' merchandise. It is why I will not buy anything at Wal-Mart any more. If you insist on buying this cheap stuff you will continue to have problems like this.
