Oh My Goodness, is this question for real?

Otto Graham any day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Otto Graham is not only better than Joe Montana he is the best QB ever.

Joe Montana was a good QB on a very good system.
He was also good at comebacks.

But then again Elway and Marino were also good at comebacks.
That may be a more fair comparison.
But Elway is the better all around QB than Joe M because he can run well. Marino is the best pure passer.

But the best QB ever is without a doubt Otto Graham.
Hey there was football before 1981.
Otto Graham in 10 years, went to 10 championship games.
That's a winner...don't even get me started on his stats.

Unquestioned #1. All of the previous posters don't even know who Otto Graham is, when he played, who he played for or anything about him.

Now is Automatic Otto the best football player ever...regardless of position??
That is another question up for debate with Jim Brown and Dick Butkus.

Thanks for standing by my comments.
When I mentioned Brown and Butkus I threw out two names from different positions. You're right that LT could be in that category.

Edit: To Pinky below:
I respect your answer but I have to disagree strongly.
Otto Graham was far better than Montana.
Montana had the system and is more recent.
People always talk about his coolness under pressure.
Yeah that's true but does that make him #1? No way.
Yes Montana is a winner.
But there was football before the 1980's and Terry Bradshaw won just as many rings. But Bradshaw will never be #1 or even top 5 becuase everyone knows the Steelers didn't win it becuase of him. Graham went to 10 championships in 10 years. That is a pure winner.
Now as to your 2nd point on best player ever. Butkus and LT and any defensive player are usually not on people's lists becuase there aren't hardcore stats like yards, TD's etc for those guys. Sacks were a stat that started in the 80's and INT's are measurable for DB's. So defensive players are constantly overlooked. If not Butkus, LT, Night Train Lane, or Deacon Jones then who on defense? Reggie White? Bruce Smith? Deion Sanders? Or should we exclude all defensive stars.

Now your 3rd point on Jerry Rice being the best ever at any position. He was the best WR ever...for now. But I want to direct your attention to two things.
Here are Rice's stats for his first 8 years: 103 TD's, 10,273 yards
Pretty awesome.

Here is another guy's stats who is in the NFL right now:
First 8 years: 98 TD's, 10,147

Rice had Montana and Young tossing him the ball too.

If Rice is #1 then where is Randy Moss who had Cunningham, George, StuffedPepper, and Scary Collins throwing the ball to him. Now he gets Aaron Brooks aka Sport Goofy.

Jerry Rice best ever at any position...NO WAY!
Unless you think Randy Moss is #2 of all time.

Otto Graham had retired before I got into football in 1969 so I cannot answer fairly. I was impressed by Joe Montana but remember that he had a very talented team around him. He did very well within a successful and well prepared system as I am sure Mr. Graham had done in his time. And consider the era's in which they played, they have differing intricacies. I would select Otto Graham for too many reasons to list here, with great respect for Mr. Montana.

otto graham is by far much better than montana ever was. Otto won what 6 NFL championships in like 7 yrs. Montana was a hack compared and Manning isnt even close to either of them.

I agree whole-heartedly with ggthekid. Don't answer if you don't know anything about the question. I love Montana, but Otto is the quarterback. The only point I differ with is i'd like to throw Lawrence Taylor in the discussion for best of any position.

Joe Montana, he was very smart and savvy on the field. He never lost his cool and was a great leader. Otto had Jim Brown to take away the brunt of the defense. My mother could throw in that system and time period. Also Joe was a good athlete, he played basketball in high school for Ringgold outside Pittsburgh. I was on JV's when we played them and he was pretty good.
