As I watched Cristiano Ronaldo during the beginning of the World Cup, in group stage, I noticed, for a player, well-known for diving, he did not dive too much. However, after the Netherlands's game, where his team beat the Netherlands 1-0, I noticed him diving a lot more. Granted, every player takes a dive a game here, a game there, but as I watched him play against England and France, he dove, trying to create a foul out of nothing.

However, in the game against Germany, he was falling all over the field. To be fair, in some instances there was some illegal contact, but mostly, C. Ronaldo was trying to win a free kick. One replay, shot from the perfect angle, showed him falling without being touched by a German player. The referee did well not to be duped by his attempt at cheating.

Those who say he was not diving need to watch the games a little more carefully, especially the replays, and maybe look at the rules of football. Although I applaud your devotion to a great player, you need to open your eyes and see past his deception.

I really didn't see him diving today as he has in some of the games in the past. Still I think his theatrics from the past got the better of him today because I thought there was at least a couple of times that he really did get fouled but the ref didn't call it. That's a risk you take when you cry wolf so much. Like him or not, he is very talented and I just wish he'd rely on that and do away with the other garbage.

those girls must not understand what diving is, because that was all C Ronaldo was doing today. He would make his runs and when he lost the ball instead of being a good sport and trying to go get it back, he would dive and complain to the ref about being fouled. Yes, he is a good player, but he will never be great until he grows up and stops his childish antics.

Portugal are a pretty average team & diving is the only way he knows to get posession to them, furtunately he's tried it too many times now & officials see straight through him.

He still has a lot of female support though - I suppose you can't blame them - I'd love a girl who goes down as enthusiastically as ronaldo!

whoa! that first girl got really fired up. Anyways, I think that alot of people cheat in the world cup. They like fake getting hurt and stuff, which is wierd.
Also, Im not attacking him; I didnt even watch the game. I just made a statment towards the other soccer players that purposefully fall.

ich! Warum? He's playing against the germans, he knows that they are the best team on the planet he know they have 11 highly skilled good players. Of course he is going to dive and fall and try to get free kicks.

Its was obvious! But let me put it in another way, he was not falling for nothing, he was really falling very technically and he managed to fool referee and got what he wanted and send portugal to semifinal! We are all speaking it out after watching the playbacks who could just imagined what happened if it is not for the help of digital technology?

Yeah he was diving like crazy. He wanted to win and did anything to try to win. To bad it didn't work. His crying also killed his chances on getting the Best Young player award. But he is one hell of a player!
