A GREAT resource for free music downloads that are perfectly legal is to visit websites that contain databases of bands that "allow" taping and recording of their live acts. One such resource is etree:

You need the Bit Torrent software, but it is a relatively small and easily-run program. Check ou the database of live shows that you can download and burn to disc legally and free. Enjoy!

Just an idea.Every week I Tunes offers 2 free downloads. I always get them and have listened to music I never would have heard. Great fun, and while you are downloading you can read all about the band and there music.

No music online that free will be legal, if you try you'll be taking a risk. The only legal method is by purchasing music on music online stores.

garageband.com, however only obscure artists. also all music before the 1950's can be downloaded for free, the copyright's run out.
