Yes that is fine. they don't go well with other bettas. I put my beta together with a gold fish and they are fine.

You Can Put Your Betta In A Tank With Other Tropical Fish
Only ONE Male As The Males Will Fight (To The Death)
The Others Answering Are Wrong
The Betta Will Fight Other Male Bettas
NOT All Other Fish
The Goldfish Are Not Tropical Fish
It Is The Goldfish That You Do Not Want To Put In
With Other Fish
Goldfish Secrete A Toxin
That Will Kill Your (Tropical) Fish
Over A Period Of Time
Depending On Their Size And Numbers

Hy there! My real name is Danilov and I'm a vet specialized on exotic and tropical fish. I have over 150 species in my private aquarium(s). I think I can help you with your question.
That depends on the case. Even if your gold fish is 10 times bigger than the Betta , there will be only one survivor. KEEP IN MIND THAT GOLD FISH ARE OMNIVOROUS.,SO THEY EAT OTHER FISH! You should never keep a big gold fish with smaller fish, because you'll end up without them, and only with a full gold fish.
Regarding to the Betta situation, keep them in separate tanks, you can never know. If the gold fish if the same size or smaller than the Betta then the gold fish WILL BE KILLED. I have plenty of experience with these kind of situations, take my word for granted. Betta's are one of the best looking species of fish, and the one that fools you they are intelligent. They are only looking for a fight. :)
Good luck with your Betta and your gold fish! Separate them, so you won't be sorry later.
Cheers!

Yes they will. I have had a male betta in my kids fish tank for well over a year. My betta gets along with the three goldfish just fine.
Years ago when I had my tropical tank Had a betta with angel fish, zebra dinos, and other assorted fish never had a problem.
The only time you will have a problem is if you put two or more male bettas together. they will fight till one dies. if you have a betta hold a mirror up to the tank and let betta see its self and see what happens.

I have raised fish for over 30 years.. I have had bettas, cichlids, and live-bares.. Bettas will do fine in any community tank. Just don't put two males bettas in the same tank.

No, firstly goldfish stay in cold water and bettas stay in tropical water. Secondly, Betta will attack any fish with long finnage and vivid colour due to mistaken as another bettas.

actually....a beta cannot go with a gold fish, the only fish that can go in a tank with a beta are those that are lighter in color then the beta. I've had many beta fish, along with other jinds too. Just dont put 2 betas together, and dont put fish that are brighter then the beta with a beta!
