why do cars have low pressure and high pressure valve
what is the high pressure valve for? do I need to do something on the high pressure when charge R134a on the low pressure side

The valves are for gauges as well as ports. Refrigerant is only added to the low side. Connecting to the high side is dangerous. Read a manual before you try it to avoid damaging the system or hurting yourself.

if you are just adding a can of freon you dont do anything to the high side It is used to read pressures on the high side.attach the can at the low side and the freon will go in unless you have something wrong.
