It honestly does not take much. Case, motherboard, memory, hard drive, and a screw driver. Um, there are some stand off screws that keep the motherboard off the case. I have actually seen a couple of people that did not use them. Really, really bad idea. Other than that, it is pretty easy to do these days. If the motherboard does not incorporate sound an video (and frankly, I would advoid those myself), you also will need video and audio cards.
