Well, for one thing illness. It could be mental, physical, and/or genetic makes some people incapable of caring for themselves no matter how hard they try.
If you are born without arms, or yours are amputated in an accident, how can you be self sufficient?
Granted a lot of folks are lazy, but what are you going to do? If it weren't for the lazy folks you wouldn't have anything to complain about, would you?

By doing all that they can for themselves in whatever circumstances they find themselves in. Self-sufficiency is unique to each individual.

Not everyone can be all of anything! Just remember that. We are all inter-related and at best, co-sufficient!

We will never be self-sufficient. We rely too much on others to provide things for us. . . . let me know when you build your own car and harvest your own food!
