a side note to nwpeltier.....there is no such thing as a "head coach" in baseball! They are called "managers". Thank you very much for your "baseball" knowledge.

You can't doubt the Tigers. They're doing awesome this year, there's no denying it!

Any time a team is doing well after doing very poorly, and let's face it, it doesn't get much poorer than 119 losses, there will be many people who will doubt that the team will maintain its level of good play.

This actually is an advantage. Opposing teams look at the lineup and say, "No way is this team going to beat us." Then they leave town having lost the series, or perhaps having been swept, and they shake their heads.

In 1969, Ernie Banks looked at a Mets lineup card and remarked, "I know Los Angeles won with pitching, but this is ridiculous." Ridiculous enough that the Mets won 100 games, including the season series with the Cubs, and the World Series. And this was a team that had never been above .500 before. Mets fans knew the team was on a mission, and the team believed, but everybody else was scratching their heads, particularly when Seaver or Koosman was not on the mound. The Houston Astros did not doubt, and were 10-2 against the Mets. The Baltimore Orioles, led by Frank Robinson, did doubt, and set a record (still standing) for the lowest batting average in a five-game Series.

So the Tigers need to encourage this sense of doubt among the other teams and their fans. They'll win more games that way.

Alas, though I am a Mariners fan I do not doubt the Tigers. Not that it's doing the M's much good!

Ive doubted them since the beginning of the year and i hate to admit it because im a very proud kind of person when it comes to baseball predictions. As of right now, the worst thing that could happen to them is that their young pitching falls apart and rogers has a terrible second half...but then again, that still shouldnt prevent them from winning the division. I also think a pitching collapse is a much bigger possibility for the white sox. i just dont trust any of their pitchers for some reason. so congrats on ur team finally breaking out and they should easily take the division.
My prediction, though, and dont laugh, is that the indians play great in the second half and catch the sox to win the wild-card (thats been my bold pick of the year especially since im not a cleveland fan).

easily, take away the head coach and u got the same garbage, not really tho, ima twins fan and im just sick of gettin pounded:) i like detroits line-up, head coach sent marlins to the world series few years back, then had a worse team than the tigers do now ... so my final query is, if the twins dont do well, detroits my team, just as long as the white sox dont win it again, in fact, i will buy the most expensive hat i can find of the team that eliminates the white sox

Because the Boston Red Sox are making the AL central look bad.

2 out of 3 against the Tigers
2 out of 2 so far against the White Sox
Minnesota deserves to win the central

Fans of the 84 champs take note - your 06 Tigers are the real deal. Leyland is the real deal and as much as I hate to admit it Kenny Rogers was the real steal. Also, Zach Miner and Justin Verlander both rookies are have great seasons

You can't doubt that they're a real team. But the fear of the mighty White Sox breathing down their neck will cause them to eventually stumble. They'll come in second and make the playoffs as the wild card.

YOU CANT. I love boston, but the Tigers are the team so far. Most wins at the break. Possibly the only team to get 60 prior to the break. Arguably the best pitching.
They are just so good

The Detroit Tigers are playing great! what a difference from last year. I don't think they will win the World Series, but I think they have a chance on making it there this year.

I did doubt them, but I'm starting to come around.

I don't think they will win the World Series, but I wouldn't want to face them in the playoffs either.
