The same reason people hate different kinds of music. It just doesn't sound good to them.
For instance, I can't stand rap. I think it's really degrading towards women, they don't use real words (adding -izzle to a word does NOT make it a new word) and they swear so much in it (and, I swear like a sailor, so if I think it's bad, it's really bad). Anyone could write a rap, just throw some words that rhyme together, and say it in a beat. Heck, I wrote a rap about a rainbow I named Charlie once. Not hard, unlike writing lyrics to a rock song, where it takes more than just a few words that rhyme to make it work.
But, rock, is just something that makes sense to me. I can't even start to describe how I feel when I'm at a concert, feeling the bass just flow through me, my feet dancing along with the drums, and the pure joy of hearing a guitar solo. Whether it's just a friends band in their garage, or a huge stadium concert, the feeling I have is just, amazing. I feel whole, and every problem I have, I'm blissfully unaware of while I hear rock.

Music is based on emotion. So it's a matter of what you like or don't like. And usually, especially when you're younger, if there's a style of music you like then you feel you have to hate the other styles.
In the old days, don't know if it's true anymore, all the adults hated rock music because they thought it was the cause of all teen problems. These days, I think rap gets that bad rap.

I don't know why some people hate rock music. I personally don't listen to rock i listen to country music, but i have many friends who do and I've gotten used to being around it. I don't agree with everything mentioned in rock and other genres but then again i don't agree with everything in my own genre of music.

they could be karens.
people just have so different opinions. or they grew up listening to that one type of music, so they generally prefer it.
i dont see how someone could hate rock, but hey they might have not taken their pills lately
