Kahn wanted to prove that he's still a good keeper and he did prove it

Kahn was tested a lot today - he had to make more saves against Portugal than Lehmann had to make against any one opponent. Lehmann played great the whole World Cup - his saves in the penalty kick match against Argentina were fantastic. It's so hard for a keeper to save a penalty kick, and he saved two.

I don't think Kahn would have stopped any of the goals that Lehmann allowed in the tournament. The two against Costa Rica were defensive breakdowns, the one against Argentina was a great play by the Argentines, the first one against Italy was a perfectly hit ball by a puzzlingly wide-open player, and the second one against Italy was because the whole team was pressing forward and no one was back to defend.

Kahn played great today (no shame for the one he gave up, the pass was ridiculously good), but give Lehmann his due. If I was a German player, I'd feel great with either guy behind me.

Does it really matter? The point is that they won the game and came 3rd. But I do think that Kahn played exceptionally well and it will be sad to see him go. At least he can leave the world stage on a high. That being said I think that Germany is safe, with the more than capable gloves of Lehmann

No Way. Lehmann proved how amazing he is during that shoot-out. Even if he did use some notes. Plus Kahn only played in one game, so you can't really compare.

No way. Kahn was very good, but I think Lehmann would have held the goal the Portugese scored.

I disagree he's getting old Kahn. Lehmann is young and improving with every game.

Kahn is a freak at stopping shots from close distances. Portugal had clear shots to goal, and Kahn cancelled them out quick. He was classic Kahn, at least for today. Jens had a good tournament, but I strongly believed Klinsman should've alternated Goalkeepers. I hope he's at peace with the decisions he made. 3rd place in the world is not so bad, but it sucks that they got thrown out of the top two spots in their own turf.

Nein! Ach Nein! Lehmann is amazing he is the best, Kahn is rubbish! Lehmann could have saved that Portugal goal, (not that it matters).

Kahn is always there when he is most needed... but there's nothing wrong with having two of the best goalkeepers... Even though this was olli's very last game...
