Diplomacy and war did not help. Are there other alternatives?

Diplomacy has failed, but fighting back (war as you put it) has not run its course yet - and honestly what other option did they have but leave the soldier hanging out to dry?

Israel has refused to recognize the leadership of Hamas. More importantly, they refuse to negotiate the release of Palestinian prisoners. Unfortunately, there is no clear answer to your question. But diplomacy has not failed - there has been no effort to implement diplomacy. Both governments must be open to genuine dialogue before Israel will be successful in rescuing their soldier.

Israel should continue it's offensive into Gaza, and continue to punish the Palestinians until the prisioner is released unharmed. This will show the Palestinians that there will no longer be rewards for bad behavior.
Should the Palestinians kill their prisioner, there should be a direct assault on their leadership in "Shock and Awe" fashion. After that, Israel should fall back and wait for the next move. Any missile launced in to Israeli territory should be met with a swift and very strong attack on the Hamas and Palestinian Leadership.

First of all Israel did not give diplomacy any chance...So war didn't help...They should negotiate with Hamas and I am sure that if Israel will release children from prisons,Hamas will release the soldier...

They should hold new elections. The " Kach " ( Power ) Party of
Rabbi Meyer Kahane should be re-instated as a legal political
party in Israel. You won't hear a peep out of the arabs then !

don't see any other alternative. why don't all you people try living here before you open your mouth on how israel is so terrible to the palestinians??

Well, they could break their agreements, meddle in the internal affairs of another nation and then kill a bunch of women and children.
