Yes it was Herr Wankel who "invented" the rotary but he sure didn't "perfect" it. He sold Mazda a piece of junk and Mazda made this engine actually work properly. So I prefer to call it the Mazda Rotary engine to give credit where credit is due.

But "on paper", yes, Herr Wankel figured it out.

Is that the triangular stylie one in the mazda rx8?
I think it must have been developed by Hans Wankel a german automotive engineer in the 1930's.
