I competed in the real olympics, and tips for lowering your stress:
- control everything you can, let go of the rest. Prepare everything you need before your race so you dont run into trouble right before.. get backup goggles and stuff too. the less you have to do before.. the more you can concentrate on your race
- concentrate on YOUR race.. you know what to do, dont think of places, or people, just go for it
- try relaxation techinques.. deep breaths and counts, control your HR..
- and have fun.. really thats whats important, its not worth stressing

I would say that you just shouldnt concentrate on it to much. By stressing you will only get yourself freaked out and by doing that, you will not only ruin the swim you were stressed out about, but probably the entire meet. To keep yourself from getting stressed, i would suggest that you bring something to do with you, so that it will distract you a little. To distract you, i would suggest you have some music to listen to, a book or magazine to read, or bring a deck of cards and play a game with some friends.

haha, that definitely made me laugh. But I'm pretty sure gender, as far as most sports go, is determined by DNA. Because your DNA gender determine the amount of muscles you could have, how easy it is to build muscles and testosterone levels. All these things effect your performance and if any athlete were to take anythings to enhance those things they would be disqualified. So, he'd be swimming with the guys still. Oh and one type of men swimwear covered the upper body too. Michael Phelps just likes to take off the top part or not wear it at all.

Yes i have been to junior olympics multiple times in swimming and being nervous and tense will ruin ur race...to relax u have to learn how to breath because many ppl arent breathing and dont realize it! so to relax try brething in for 4 sec and hold for 2 sec and breath out for 4 sec. also before and during ur race u shouldnt be thinking about ur stroke, goal times, or placement...just relax and let ur muscles do the racing work! (ie muscle memory) just remember to relax and dont stress GOOD LUCK

I have been to both Junior and Senior Nationals and my coach always tells me if I have done everything right in training, my races will take care of themselves (and they do!). Don't overthink your swims... Be confident that you're ready to race and then just have fun!
