Hi! A town is a small community that stands on its own, it's bigger than a village. A city is a bigger community than a town. And a county actually includes villages, towns and cities, it's probably called that because it used to be the property of some count in feodal times.

Not all towns and cities are within a county. For instance, if you have a city that's also a country (like Monaco) there are no counties.

Towns are smaller than cities and therefore have a lower population and that is usually how the differences are defined and as for county that is a particular region,as an example i live in the county of Derbyshire and the principal city is Derby.

A State is divided into Counties. Cities and Towns are based on population, size, legal and political structure.

Cities and towns belong to a county.

Counties can carry many cities/cities. for occasion each and each Island of Hawii is a seperate county. Boroughs tend to be a term used for communities. city's are cities that have been elected and approved to be a city. cities have their very own Police, Fireman, and such.
