my ip is verizon dsl, & it also closes my connection

I definately agree with the "Get Firefox" opininon. You should also scan for any spyware and viruses. If you don't have scanners for those yet, download Avast anti-virus, and Ad-aware and SpyBot (all free) from http://www.download.com
Also make sure your version of IE is fully up to date through windows Update

If IE is crashing then just get Firefox. It shouldn't be closing your connection; but there's no LAN setting for this in IE. It might be a virus.

I have to agree. Internet Explorer has many serious problems. Especially with security and bugs... download Firefox - it will work similarly but with added features. I love it
